All duties are to be performed at NOVA IMS facilities in Lisbon, Portugal. Teaching Areas
The successful candidate will be expected to design and deliver courses related to one or more of the following areas:
Risk Analysis
Risk Management in Banking and Insurance
Risk Management Models
Financial Markets and Risks
Market and Credit Risk Management
Teaching will take place at both undergraduate and graduate (Master’s/PhD) levels, and may be delivered entirely in English.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and delivering lectures, seminars, and tutorials in risk-related disciplines at undergraduate and graduate level
Supervision of student research, including thesis and dissertation guidance
Curriculum development, course coordination, and educational innovation
Conducting original research and publishing in high-quality, internationally recognised journals
Pursuing and managing national and international research funding and grants
Contributing to the academic life and strategic development of NOVA IMS
Engaging with industry, government, and international academic partners
Required Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must meet the following requirements:
A PhD or doctoral degree from a recognised university in a relevant field (Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science, Quantitative Methods, or closely related discipline)
An excellent scientific record demonstrated through publications in internationally recognised, top-ranked journals
Strong didactic and teaching skills, with proven experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
Capacity to lead pedagogical innovation and manage academic programmes
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Ability to teach entirely in English
A collaborative, initiative-driven approach with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment
An international academic profile — international research experience, collaborations, or publications strongly valued
Advantageous (Not Mandatory)
Track record of obtaining competitive research funding at national or international level
Experience managing research projects or research teams
Industry experience in banking, insurance, financial services, or risk consulting
